Saleh Mahmud was born in 1967 in Gaibandha, a small town of Kishoreganj, where he spent most of his childhood. He completed his Master’s Degree from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Dhaka in 1986. Since then he has been part of different artistic practices. He has been affiliated with the formation and establishment of Chhobir Haat and its activities since 2003.
He finds performance to be one of those mediums that can communicate and reflect human thoughts the best. A mentionable performance of his in 1995 called “Imprisonment of the Soul” reflects similar thoughts. He uses live art or action-based art in a manner of breaking the rigid communicative styles of traditional art and using his body and his mind as tools of expression.
