Exhibition 3

Edge Gallery – Courtyard

Mirpur Road, Dhanmondi, Dhaka.

February 7-14, 2019

This group exhibition at Edge Gallery – Courtyard presented a comprehensive archive of three seasons of the ‘Urban Hours’ project by Back Art Foundation, held at the Rose Garden (2014), Curzon Hall (2016), and Jahangirnagar University (2018). The works explored urbanization’s many facets—its beauty and brutality, tensions and transformations—through artistic research and intervention. Artist and curator Emran Sohel designed the exhibition using iron structures from active construction sites, creating an architectural skeleton that echoed the urban growth narrative. Integrated into this structure were real artworks, drawings, installations, performance remnants, and documentation, all collectively portraying a city in flux and questioning how artists respond to urban realities.
